Banks

Nationwide

10 Worcester Rd, Malvern WR14 4QZ, UK – 0800 554 0546

Staff are always very friendly, reason I switched from HSBC. Very good interest rates and comission free purcheses abroad on their kids account and select credit card. 10/10

Decent little Nationwide

HSBC

1 Church St, Malvern WR14 2AB, UK – 0345 740 4404

Despite some difficulties when switching my account to HSBC I am happy to give a 5 star review to the branch itself as the staff were both helpful and resourceful in helping me through that process.

The staff consistently do the very best they can considering the conditions under which they work. I've always found them agreeable, professional and helpful. Any improvements to be made would be the job of higher management, not those on the ground.

Halifax

101, 103 Church St, Malvern WR14 2AE, UK – 0345 600 3934

Helped me out a lot when I fell a victim of fraud. Also when I went in to sort it out there was an older gentleman who was a customer who could not get a lift home. The manager tried to call him a taxi but there was none available. In the end the manager send an employee to drive the gentleman home and send the employee home early for doing this. I felt this really showed a personal service and this branch will go the extra mile for its employees! Thank you Malvern Halifax!! Recommend to everyone! X

Richmond Dental Practice

12 Richmond Rd, Malvern WR14 1NE, UK – 01684 561249

Had treatment with Navdeep 18 th May. Excellent service talked through my treatment and made me feel completely at ease.

I managed to get an emergency appointment as a visitor to the area and my treatment was excellent. Very friendly, highly professional and great communication from Navdeep. If I lived in Malvern I'd be glad to have such a superb service available.

Malvern Hills Dental Care

Somers Rd, Malvern WR14 1TF, UK – 01684 574131

Anna is by far the best dentist I have ever been treated by! I highly recommend Malvern Hills Dental Care!

Having had some severely bad dental experiences during my long years I am always a bit apprehensive, especially if I have to find a new dentist. My previous dentist was at the St. John's Practice which closed down on May 27th. My last treatment there, a large double filling on May 9th - dropped out in June - and there began a world of pain and trouble. A couple of visits in June to the emergency dentist in Worcester for a temporary filling, and then a 2nd check which revealed an abscess requiring anti-biotics. I have been in constant pain since that final treatment at my previous dentist in May. Last week, by chance I met a family exiting the Malvern Hills Dental Surgery and took a flying chance to ask the Mum if she would mind telling me what she thought of the dentistry there. She was really complimentary giving a glowing report on two dentists her family had seen for some years. Taking courage in both hands I went in, explained my dental position to a receptionist who booked me in for yesterday, 26th August 2016. The lady I saw was nothing short of fantastic. After exhaustive checks and x-rays she booked me back in for 1pm the same day for the urgent removal of an inflamed residual root which had remained after a tooth fell out many years ago, and which was causing the abscess and gum pain. She was simply brilliant, super efficient and very kind. When the gum settles down I need to go back for a permanent filling to replace that one which fell out in June, but I won't be anxious now because I know I will be in safe hands. I know this is a long post - but I know there will be others out there like me looking for a safe dentist and I would thoroughly recommend this Dental Practice - from personal experience!

Dr J Edwards - Mavern Health Centre

300 Pickersligh Road, Malvern WR14 2GT, UK – 01684 584050

Definately one downhill. The ladies who run the clinics are doing their best but generally speaking Malvern Health Centre is just a poor image of its past. The turn over of doctors proves a point as does the awful problem trying to obtain an appointment. To put a cap on it patients can only submit a prescription now in person. If you are working or disabled hard cheese!

St Saviours Surgery

Merick Rd, Malvern WR14 1DD, UK – 01684 572323

Friendly staff, knowledgeable doctors. Appointments are no more unreliable than you would expect from any local service.

NHS Direct is now NHS 24. Just dial 111 to speak to a professional or click the link below for there self help website. Lots of really useful info but keep clear of heart surgery! If in doubt ask your GP or call 111. Good luck.

Had to call in last evening my wife had a damaged arm. Staff were perfect and treatment first class. Arrived 7.00pm, on our way home 8.30pm. Very quick. Such a pleasant and professional atmosphere. Highly recommended. Tony Burford

Visiting Malvern, needed to call into the minor injuries unit with a twisted knee. Exemplary care - no waiting so I was in and out in under an hour but assessment and treatment was very thorough. Especially appreciated the careful explanation of the injury and the best course for recovery. So pleased I'm moving here if this is the standard of care.

Great Malvern Priory

Church St, Malvern WR14 2AY, UK – 01684 561020

Like a mlnlature "cathedral" set on the side of the Malvern Hills now surrounded by the Victorian Spa town of Great Malvern.

Wonderful. The most medieval stained glass in any church in the country. Recommended visit especially as the rear double door exit (now locked) was the inspiration for the wardrobe in Nania. Go outside to see one of the famous recently, lovingly restored gas lampposts just like the ones in Nania. To see the actual gas lampposts, which inspired C. S. Lewis go to Rose Bank Gardens. Here C. S. Lewis and his friend J. R. R. Tolkien saw these lampposts in the snow. Then walk along to The Unicorn Pub for the Blue Plaque to C. S. Lewis. To finish up cross the road to The Foley Arms Hotel for an excellent display of J. R. Tolkien memorabilia.

Surplex UK Limited - FREE IT / WEEE COMMERCIAL RECYCLING

Alni, Lower Quest Hills Rd, Malvern WR14 1RP, UK – 01684 252583

Once again Surplex provided me with first class service. I booked an urgent collection - prior to a Health & Safety inspection and even though they were fully booked they made a special trip to me at the end of the day. It is always so easy with this company, first class service, complete data security and friendly staff - I even got to meet the office dogs! Of all the WEEE companies I have used both in our Birmingham and London office Surplex are by far the best.

Lovely people and very knowledgeable.

Give and get free stuff. Here you will find lots of items that people are willing to give away, for FREE! This is instead of taking them to a local landfill site. The aim of this site is to reduce the amount of waste that goes to landfill (20.9 million tonnes of it last year in the UK) and recycling is great news for the environment.
We all know that we need to recycle more - and this is a great way of doing it.

Local Restaurants & Places to Eat around Great Malvern

Indian Heron Restaurant

243 Worcester Rd, Malvern WR14 1SY, UK – 01684 569820

What a find. I can't recommend this place more highly. If you want a real taste of India presented in a fine dining style, you would be hard pressed to find anything better outside London. I am here in Malvern camping doing some property searching. When we got in late on Friday, we just wanted a quick curry and bed. What a superb surprise the heron turned out to be. We were served with enthusiasm despite being in the middle of Ramadan. And then the food was heavenly and prepared fine dining style by a chef that clearly loves his ingredients and knows how to use them.

Absolutely wonderful food. Very tasty, I am a picky eater and I loved it all from starter to main. Lovely staff who ensure that everything is perfect, also liked that they asked if we had any food intolerance's. Highly recommended best Indian food I've ever had.

ASK Italian

6/8 Bellevue Terrace, Great Malvern, Malvern WR14 4PZ, UK – 01684 893500

Amazing food!! We had a great night. The table service was great and they always checked up on us all the time. My friends all enjoyed their pizzas and pasta and I hope to visit again soon.

Staff chat to each other making jokes/laughing when customers can clearly hear them (behind the bar). All very good if there are no customers about but it doesn't feel very professional during service. Food very nice however even if it took a little while for it to arrive.

Vasai

267-269 Worcester Rd, Malvern WR14 1AA, UK – 01684 564411

Malvern St James Girls' School

15 Avenue Rd, Malvern WR14 3BA, UK – 01684 892288

MSJ is the most wonderful school. My two daughters are very different but have each received a superb education that is tailored to their specific needs and abilities, combined with outstanding pastoral care. It is a kind school too with a very strong emphasis on compassion, inclusion and innovation. The boarding provision is excellent and I have nothing but praise for the wonderful staff in the boarding houses. MSJ has been an extremely happy experience for us as a family and has given our girls a first-class preparation for university, work and life.

My daughter has grown into a strong minded, confident and extremely happy teenager. She adores school. From interesting lessons with dedicated and supportive teachers to the huge variety of extra curricular activities that are available to enhance her day we are thrilled to be part of the MSJ community.

Public & Preparatory Schools

The Downs Malvern

Brockhill Rd, Colwall, Malvern WR13 6EY, UK – 01684 544100

Glorious setting in the shadow of the Malvern Hills. The grounds of this independent school are spread across a wide area and the sports fields are a great location for picnics whilst watching the action. Student numbers have grown of late almost doubling in size to 260 and the boarding house is bursting. When the time comes, many of the children move over the hill to Malvern College where a place is usually guaranteed.

Excellent Prep School with a very dynamic team of teachers. The children are encouraged to think for themselves and explore their curiosity in a very safe and caring environment. Certainly one of the best in the area.

Malvern College

College Rd, Malvern WR14 3DF, UK – 01684 581500

Glorious setting on the side of the Malvern Hills. Campus is relatively compact compared to some schools and all departments are within easy reach. Mainly purpose built boys boarding school and retains the individual House system. Went coed some 25+ years ago. Each house holds around 60 students (approximately 660 in total) with dedicated boys and girls houses. Primary sport is cricket with hockey due to feature more given the recent installation of additional astro pitches.

Hills are pretty. Co-educational boarding school for age 13+.
