The Ramblers Association now have a greatly improved website which is an exceptional rescource for all walkers, hykers and young families wanting to go for walks with young children. This site lists everything from historical walks to guided walks and really audious walks.

Find A Walk Near Me by Walking Britain is a truly excellent and free resource. Just enter where you are or where you would like to walk - and print out directions. The walks are graded and you can buy a specific map of the area at the same time. These are proper OS maps and weather proofed if required.

I always think of walking as one of the few activities you can do for free - and now you can with this guide!

Walking, Hiking and Outdoor Shops

Mountain Warehouse Malvern

14 Church St, Malvern WR14 2AY, UK – 01684 572687

Staff very helpful and friendly. Great selection of outdoor clothing and accessories at VERY reasonable prices. 70% discount at present. (3 in 1 jacket only £34 ) Great place to buy warm and waterproof items . Free car parking at the shop on retail park. Several smaller car parks (pay and display) near the high street branch. Wheelchair access to both.

Always worth seeing what bargains they have. Top stuff can have 70% off. Always clean, tidy and the staff are great at every store I have been to.

Mountain Warehouse Malvern Shopping Park

12, Roman Way, Malvern WR14 1PZ, UK – 01684 575467

Second Mountain Warehouse store in Malvern. Stocks similar items to the original store and perhaps slightly wider range. Easier parking than on Church Street however, on the fringe of the town and in a retail park that can get very busy (often queues of cars entering and leaving - best time to go is between 9 and 10 in the morning during the week). Goods always seem to be on sale or two for one so RRP is perhaps more of a guide. The store caters for young children sizes through to larger adult sizes. Staff seem helpful and if on mailing list often receive discount coupons through the post.

This store is an example of why I now buy some clothes online. The stuff I like is sold out in my size. I'm not an odd or unusual size but I always seem unlucky that the Large XLarge are sold out before I get to try them on in the store. To work this hard I want a big discount not a high price.

Harpers Bazaar

257 Worcester Rd, Malvern WR14 1AA, UK – 01684 568723

Good little local outdoors shop. Really handy for stocking up on stuff for cadets as they keep military surplus clothing as well as parade shoes and boots. They also have all the things you'd need for Duke of Edinburgh expeditions.

Don't go anywhere else in this area for your walking boots. large selection of quality, well-priced stock and knowledgable owner.

WalkingWorld.jpg
Another good one. Walkingworld has huge library of guides with a good selection of walks, of varying lengths and grades, pretty well anywhere in the UK. The walks come in an excellent format making them very easy to follow, with photographs to illustrate every important decision point and a proper Ordnance Survey map.

A modist annual subscription gives you unlimited access to all the walks. However you can Pay As Go by downloading indiviual walks.

Crucially you can also find walks France, Spain, Norway, Portugal and Australia!

Camping and Caravaning

Blackmore Camping and Caravanning Club Site

No 2, Hanley Swan, Malvern WR8 0EE, UK – 01684 310280

This is an excellent club site The wardens are so friendly and helpful. The site is immaculate and clean. We were there for four nights and even though busy, it never felt crowded. Lovely big pitches with the choice of fully open or shaded. Great for dogs with a good dog walk and about a 20 minute walk along a good footpath yo the local village where there's a post office/grocery (closed Sat pm and all day Sun) and the Swan Inn with a lovely restaurant. The site shop is good for essentials and ice cream.

Just had 10 days on this site & will be going back in September. Lovely big pitches giving a great feeling of space. Immaculate loo blocks & really good showers. Friendly wardens. Definitely a favourite of ours.

Malvern Hills Caravan and Motorhome Club Site

Malvern Hills Club Site, Blackmore End, Hanley Swan, Worcester WR8 0EE, UK – 01684 310505

Very nice Club site situated near to many places of interest. Hardstanding and grass pitches are level and easily accessible and site security is taken care of by a barrier system. My stay in May could not have been better with perfect weather. Definitely recommended for relaxation and touring in Worcestershire.

Brilliant place. Reminded me of the sites of old. Good pitches and good facilities.

Newland Meadows Malvern Campsite

Old Worcester Rd, Malvern WR13 5AY, UK – 01886 832821

Great location and great site. Level site. Good facilities and overall excellent value. So easy to get to Malvern or Worcester, bus stop is right outside. Two good pubs within walking distance and large shopping centre within a 10 min walk. Welcoming, relaxing and easy place to stay. Thanks.

A very relaxing site within walking distance of a great pub, Morrisons and a retail park. There is road noise but it can be ignored after a while. There are only two toilet/shower cubicles currently but more are being built. Drinking water and a bin at each pitch is handy and you don't have to pay for hookup if you don't need it. Owner is very friendly and accommodating.

Dog People is such a great website if you have dogs who go on holiday with you. Just enter your location and everything from dog friendly Bed and Breakfasts and Hotels to dog friendly walks and beaches come up. The Dog People site covers Bed & Breakfast, Holiday Parks, Hotels, Self Catering, Pubs & Food, Days Out. Enjoy!
'Walks with Buggies' is a must for walking parents with young children, babies or even grannies and grandpas! If you would like to walk around West Malvern or Worcestershire just select your nearest town, length of walk and type of walk. You will not only be able to download detailed OS maps free of charge but you can read reviews of walks and their ratings - and add your own afterwards! Enjoy
